Important Note About June Donations

Many local thrift stores stop accepting donations in June due to a seasonal surplus from move-outs. Be sure to call ahead before dropping off your items. If a store is not accepting donations, please don’t toss usable items—consider these sustainable options instead:

  • Sell or give items away online
Use Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or Isla Vista’s “Free and For Sale” groups to pass things along. Click here for more info.
  • Donate to the UCSB GIVE Benefit Sale
This annual event takes place in Isla Vista every June and accepts any and all unwanted items in good condition. Click here for more info.

Only items that are truly unusable or beyond repair should go to the landfill.
Plan ahead and take action early to ensure your unwanted belongings are reused and recirculated - not wasted.
