Kirsten was born and raised in Santa Barbara and graduated from UCSB with a degree In Political Science. After working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for fifteen years, Kirsten moved back to Santa Barbara with her husband and three children. She continued her career working as the Public Information Officer for the City of Goleta and in 2010 was named as the Director of Governmental Relations at UC Santa Barbara.
