We are Barter 4 Better, a sustainability initiative in Isla Vista working to create community,
reduce waste, and increase access to free stuff! Our goal is to raise awareness about how much
we as a community unnecessarily throw away, and work to create close knit connections through
a trading and bartering system.

My name is Lula Rosenbach and I am a second year Feminist studies major at UCSB. I care
deeply about this issue because I believe that it is our duty as students and active members of the
IV community to preserve the natural beauty around us and reduce as much waste as we can. I
love free stuff as much as the next person and I am so excited to create a sustainable system
which will hopefully circulate fun, exciting, and useful items to other community members.
Hello! My name is Juliette Allayaud and I am a second year here at UCSB. As an Environmental
Studies and Political Science double major I am highly concerned about our wasteful systems
and overconsumption which is in part driving the climate crisis. My hope is that this project
works to combat this locally, while spreading joy and care among our small community in Isla
Vista. Let's do this together!
