Get Involved With IVCC!

We have plenty of involvement opportunities lined up for Winter Quarter, 2025! Whether you're eager to dive into the composting process at our volunteer days or prefer staying connected through our social media channels, get involved today!

Volunteer Days:

May contain: clothing, shorts, baseball cap, cap, hat, plant, vegetation, soil, backyard, nature, outdoors, yard, potted plant, face, head, person, photography, portrait, animal, bird, chicken, fowl, poultry, zoo, adult, male, man, garden, pants, and grass
IVCC Volunteers

Come help us sift our finished compost, learn about the composting process, and meet new friends! Service hours are always available upon request.

  • Every Thursday of Winter Quarter 2025, starting on January 16th.
  • At Saint Michaels University Church: 6586 Picasso Road.
  • From 1pm-3pm. Stay the whole time or just drop by when you can!
  • Wear closed toed shoes, and an outfit you don't mind getting dirt on. 
  • Volunteers should be comfortable participating in moderate-high activity.

Workshops:

  • Extract Escapades: Making & Using Compost Extracts - Workshop & Volunteering
    • Wednesday 1/15/2025 
    • 2:00pm-4:00pm
    • at Saint Michael's Community Garden: 6586 Picasso Rd
    • Register here
    • Join us in this hands-on workshop and volunteer experience to learn about creating and using compost extracts effectively in a community garden. A compost extract is where we hand massage compost into a bucket of water that in turn releases biology into the water. We will then use that extract to fuel our garden beds! This will be a collaboration between the Edible Campus Program and the Isla Vista Compost Collective!

Ready to Take Your Volunteering to the Next Level?

Apply to become an IVCSD Community Ambassador! The Community Ambassador Program is an exciting volunteer opportunity with the Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD). The application window for Spring Quarter opens February 23rd, 2025. Perks of being a Community Ambassador include:

  • Having a plethora of volunteer opportunities located all in one app - choose a volunteer shift that works for you and your schedule!
  • Receiving letters of recommendation after program completion (completing 10 hours of volunteering each quarter)
  • Building your resume with hands-on experience in local government and community service
  • And so much more!
