While climbing on roofs to stargaze may appear fun, roofs can pose major hazards to residents due to their height and instability. Roofs are often slanted and without railings, meaning one slip could cause major injuries and even fatal incidents. While roofs can hold weight, they are not meant to hold the concentrated weight of a human on one part of the roof and can collapse. Older or unmaintained roofs pose a higher risk as they can more easily fall.
It's best to always avoid going onto any roofs for any reason. Be an active bystander and tell your friends about roof safety. One conversation can save a life.
