Katherine Carmichael was appointed to the IVCSD Board of Directors in Summer 2025. Carmichael attended UCSB from 2018-2022, earning BAs in Communication and Political Science. Following graduation, she worked in the Santa Barbara district office of State Senator Limón, focusing on environmental issues. Currently, Carmichael is a graduate student at UCSB, pursuing her PhD in political and environmental communication, with a focus on community-based research. Carmichael is passionate about increasing the affordability, equity, environmental stewardship, and social capital of Isla Vista.
