The Good Samaritan Law:
If you see someone in an emergency, just call 911. The Good Samaritan Law will protect you when you voluntarily assist others in an emergency in good faith, this covers people who are underage drinking or using illegal substances.

See something unsafe related to cliff safety? Use our Resident Report Form to let us know and we'll faciliate remedying the issue. When filling out the form, select "Cliff / Bluff Unsafe Conditions" in the Service Request Type section.

Part of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, the Isla Vista Foot Patrol is a unique station in which deputies and officers patrol the area primarily on foot or bicycle.

Always report balcony or roof damage to your landlord, property company, or the County Building Inspector!
The County Building Inspector can conduct on-site inspections, investigate complaints, and enforce corrections for non-compliance to uphold public safety.

The Isla Vista Safety Stations are two streetside locations designed to improve the public safety and well-being of the community on its most busy nights.
In an emergency, find a Safety Station for judgment-free help. Stations are located at Window to the Sea and Little Acorn Park every Friday & Saturday from 8pm-2am. SSPs (Student Safety Partners) can be reached 24/7.
Green Dot is a nationwide initiative that has been adopted by campuses across the country and utilizes research-informed and evidence-based approaches to ending violence by training students on how to effectively intervene as a bystander.
UC Santa Barbara offers Gaucho Green Dot, a bystander intervention training focused on harnessing the power of individual choices to shift social norms, resulting in broad-based culture change. Green Dot is based on a wealth of interdisciplinary research including social change theory, diffusion of innovation, communication, marketing, bystander intervention, and perpetration patterns.
