The Thriving Initiative: A Safe Haven for Healing Students

The Thriving Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring resilience in response to violence by promoting holistic community healing initiatives. We primarily serve student survivors of interpersonal violence (sexual assault, stalking, dating/domestic violence) and their allies in the Santa Barbara area. Our workshops focus on diverse healing modalities and create opportunities for survivors and allies to build community without sharing past traumas and instead focus on a positive way forward.

Our keystone workshop, Thriving, Not Just Surviving, is a multi-week series designed exclusively for survivors. Our UC Santa Barbara student officers continuously respond to changing community needs by implementing additional series such as Community Cultivations, The Painting Collective, and a Community Mural. These are broader offerings for survivors of any type of violence and their allies. Our team works to build and promote new holistic healing initiatives for other groups as well to create a more connected and resilient community.
