Chilla Vista embraces the laidback surfer lifestyle that has defined IV for years. Here, you'll find a community space brought together by surf-inspired bands, the M. Special beer garden (for 21+ attendees with a valid photo ID), beer die tournaments, and more.
This festival zone is an homage to "Chilla Vista": an Isla Vista music festival in the 2000s and 2010s. Centered on live music, good food, and environmentalism, this green, student-run fest was a beloved community event in its hay day.

Chilla Vista features the M. Special Beer Garden, an outdoor zone with great beer for a great cause. Beers are $4.20 with all proceeds going to STESA (Standing Together to End Sexual Assault).
REMEMBER, PUBLIC DRINKING LAWS STILL APPLY TO THE CHILLA VISTA BEER GARDEN AND THE ENTIRE SOLTOPIA FESTIVAL:

The IVCSD, in partnership with Associated Students, is working to create a new spring festival, Soltopia, for our community to save the live music and the creative spirit of Isla Vista. We're not trying to replace the legacy of Deltopia - but we do believe our community deserves a fun, safe community event.

What does a Soltopia wristband get you?
- FREE food all day long from our amazing festival vendors (Roger's Tacos, Yetz's Bagel, Bagel Cafe, Super Cuca's, Elubia's, Maria's Tacos, Isla Vista Food Co-op, Woodstock's Pizza, Zocalo)
- VIP access to each entertainment zone. Skip the lines for music, bevs, bites, and games.
- Identify yourself as a local. Wristbands are exclusive to IV and on-campus residents.
How to get one:
- Fill out the Wristband Sign-Up Form
- Pick up in-person from March 30th - April 3rd at the IV Community Center from 9 AM - 8 PM
- Register as an individual OR with a campus / IV organization (ex: Greek life, campus clubs, etc.)
Wristbands are free for locals! Just provide proof of residency like a screenshot of a lease, utility bill, a valid student ID, dormitory card, etc.

"Hi, I’m Jonas Hoffman. I’m an IV community member who’s been involved in organizing community service initiatives and local events, and I care a lot about creating spaces where people can come together in a positive way. What I enjoyed most about Deltopia was the shared excitement toward something bigger than ourselves. It was a moment where the entire IV community came together and the neighborhood truly felt alive.
This year I’m working to bring that feeling back through my entertainment zone called Chilla Vista. It’s centered around the surfy, beach aesthetic that has always been part of Deltopia’s identity. Expect surf-inspired bands, warm tones, and a relaxed energy that makes you feel at home in IV. The goal is to create an easygoing, open, and welcoming space, like hanging out by the ocean with your friends."
